Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) is an approach to math instruction that engages every student in meaningful problem-solving and peer-to-peer discussion. In this session, participants will actively experience BTC strategies firsthand by working through tasks, collaborating in groups, and reflecting on how these practices create deeper learning. You’ll leave with practical tools and insights to foster more engaged, student-centered math classrooms.
This session will explore the different types of abuse students may experience, highlight common warning signs often overlooked in compliance trainings, and provide strategies to support both students and yourself emotionally. Participants will leave with practical tools to better recognize, respond, and create safer environments for all learners.
