Golf Isn’t Just a Game: It’s Self-Care with a Swing!
FILLING
Wednesday July 29, 2026 11:10am - 12:00pm PDT
Limited Capacity filling up
Golf doesn't have to be stressful, it’s a moving meditation. Learning how to golf can be seen as a fresh, playful approach to social-emotional learning (SEL) and overall wellness. Here’s why:
  1. Mindfulness on the Course: Every swing requires presence, patience, and focus. Educators learn to quiet the noise, breathe, and stay in the moment—just like mindfulness exercises in SEL.
  2. Managing Emotions: Golf is famous for testing your calm under pressure. Learning how to celebrate small wins, reset after a bad shot, and practice resilience mirrors the very skills we want educators to model for students.
  3. Connection and Community: Out on the green, there’s laughter, shared challenges, and conversations that aren’t about work emails. Golf becomes a low-stakes, high-fun way to build community, strengthen relationships, and recharge.
  4. Wellness in Motion: It’s gentle physical activity outdoors. Sunlight, fresh air, and movement that nurtures both body and spirit. Perfect for educators who need balance in a high-stress profession.
  5. Playful Learning: Most importantly, golf brings back joy. Swinging a club, missing the ball, trying again—it’s playful trial and error, the kind of “growth mindset” activity that SEL champions.
Bring a hat, sunglasses and your wedges (if you have them) for some much-needed fun. Clubs will be available for those who don't have any of their own. No previous golf experience is necessary to participate.
